Catalogue text

This painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Delmore Gallery which reads in part ‘Her application of red acrylic on a yellow ochre canvas works very well in her abstract expression of the ‘Ayippa’ grass found near Soapy Bore on Utopia Station. This grass, is described by Lily as ‘Alertetucker’ - meaning, Black-tailed wallaby food. This species is ‘sung up’ in ceremony by the women of this place, with Lily, as chief custodian of this species.’
