Mick Jawalji – Recent Works, William Mora Galleries, Melbourne, 5–29 February 2008

This work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Warmun Art Centre, which states: 'Ngumulnggen is a gap near Ban.gurr, Baulk Face Range, in Mick Jawalji's part of Gija country. The painting shows the bullock road going through the gap, represented as diagonal lines, towards an important emu dreaming place on the plain near Ban.gurr. Ngumulnggen is called Bulltree Gap in English. There is a washing camp there. There are lots of Ngawuluwalu trees growing there. Ngawuluwalu have crumbly brown bark and white flowers. Wherever Ngawuluwalu trees grow there is spring water.'
