Catalogue text

This painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Papunya Tula Artists, Alice Springs, which reads: 'This painting depicts designs associated with Warraparti country, west of the Kiwirrkura community. The painting depicts the Kurl Kurl seeds which are ground up to make flour for damper. An ancestral woman was carrying the seeds in a coolamon on top of her head. A long way away some men were fighting, throwing boomerangs at each other. One of the boomerangs travelled too far. The woman heard the boomerang flying towards her and she ducked. In avoiding the boomerang, she spilt the coolamon full of seeds.'
