Catalogue text

This painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Papunya Tula Artists, Alice Springs, which reads: 'This painting depicts designs associated with the Seven Sisters Dreaming at Dale Creek near Warakuna, close by the Giles weather station. The roundels represent camp sites and some of the “U” shapes are women of the Napaltjarri kinship subsection who are being pursued by a man of the Tjakamarra kinship subsection. The women travelled over quite a distance but managed to keep ahead of him. The other “U” shapes are groups of women who have been gathering Kampurarrpa (desert raisins) and grinding it into a paste to formed a type of damper which is cooked in the coals.'
